Video: The Weeknd 1st live show in Toronto
This past weekend, The Weeknd performed his first show in his hometown of Toronto at the Mod Club. From what we hear Abel Tesfaye has been doing his thing under the radar for a good minute, so this is probably not his really first show ever-ever, but it is definitely his first since making his Weeknd persona the hottest unsigned artist of the moment with The House of Balloons mixtape and brilliant one-offs like “The Birds.”
Celebs in the crowd included Drake , Birdman & Diddy...hopefully he'll sign with none of the like. ENJOY.

DODO GOES TO AFRICA IN JULY
“Potjiekos CafĂ©”, a celebration of the unique cuisine of Africa. The “potjieko”, an old fashioned South African three legged cast iron pot, is an apt metaphor for Africa’s true “melting pot” cuisine. Chef Jeremy Brewington is back with an exciting menu that highlights the fascinating confluence of cultures in different the different regions of Africa: indigenous, European and South Asian.
Brewington’s menu will follow a small-plate format to encourage diners to share and sample. The first week will feature dishes typical of South Africa including babotie casserole, droewors sausages, chakalaka white beans, grilled meats from the “braai”, South Africa’s ubiquitous outdoor barbeque, and klappertert coconut pie.
Of course, Dodo will feature some delicious wines from South Africa’s Stellenbosch and Paarl regions in addition to our regular list of super classic cocktails.
Finally, D.J. Clark Quente will provide a feast for your ears with an exciting soundtrack selected from the vast musical treasures of Africa.

D'Angelo Back At Work on Long-Awaited New Album
Reclusive R&B star D'Angelo is apparently back at work on his decade-plus-in-the-making third album. A studio session took place in New York late last night with two longtime D'Angelo collaborators, Roots drummer Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson and bassist Pino Palladino, as well as producer/engineer Russell Elevado, according to posts from Questlove on Twitter.
"Most people use midnight as a time to sleep. others are working on their 11 year followup. this of course being hour number one," wrote the drummer.
The album, which was at one point provisionally titled "James River," is being eyed for release before the end of the year through J Records, according to a source, but could move to early 2012 depending on when it is finally turned in. It will be D'Angelo's long-awaited follow-up to the 2000 album "Voodoo," which won the 2001 Grammy for best R&B album and has sold 1.7 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Questlove and Palladino later backed D'Angelo on an acclaimed tour in support of the album.

Spike Lee to direct OLD BOY remake
Director Spike Lee’s ‘Oldboy’ remake will not only ‘Americanize’ the story (a la ‘The Departed’), it will be based on both the original comic book and 2003 film adaptation.
Saying that the overall reaction to news of Spike Lee directing the Oldboy remake was a bit negative would be quite the understatement. To be fair, though, Hollywood’s plans to release a reworking of Korean filmmaker Park Chan-wook’s cult classic revenge thriller (itself, based on a Japanese comic book) was poorly-received by fans from the get-go.
