April 21st, Chicago: JAZZ-Funk presents Peven Everett & Silhouette Brown (with DJ Ron Trent)

Silhouette Brown promo video from The Shrine on Vimeo.

PEVEN EVERETT JUST ADDED TO THE BILL, MORE DETAILS SOON!

Dance, Pop, R&B, Jazz, Hip-hop and House are just a few of the genre's used to describe Harvey, Illinois' own Peven Everett.

Peven grew up listening to Gospel, Jazz, Soul, and African rhythms, which greatly shaped his musical style. The now 27 year old solo artist is now an established musician performing world wide from London to Miami/WMC. Expect great tunes such as "Stuck"..."Gabriel" and some new hits!

Emerging from West London comes the soulful group Silhouette Brown, the pulse of the band is manufactured by Dego x Bembe Segue, while legendary avant-garde jazz songstress Deborah Jordan, and the unmistakable vocal sounds of Philadelphia’s Lady Alma provide the vocals for the band. Silhouette Brown guides us towards a new dimension for modern soul music with a distinctively London-esque flair. Silhouette Brown tours across the globe and has performed at world famous events such as the N. Sea Jazz Festival (Netherlands), Roma Jazz Festival (Italy), Paradiso (Amsterdam) and Cargo (London) and NOW The Shrine (Chicago).

Flashback: N'Dambi's live performance at The Shrine (march 2010)

N'DAMBI @ THE SHRINE CHICAGO from The Shrine on Vimeo.

N'Dambi performed live on March 6th at The Shrine, the video is a montage of her performance, also featuring an interview with Ron Trent.

Beginning as a background singer for Neo-Soul legend Erykah Badu, Dallas, Texas' own N’dambi has been singing nearly her entire life. She delivered her debut solo CD Little Lost Girl Blues in 1999. Since then she has released the two-disc set Tunin' Up & Cosignin', which focused more on a live and jazzy sound and contains new versions of several songs from her debut. After this, in 2005, she released A Weird Kind Of Wonderful, which contained funkier and more rock-influenced tracks. It was released only in Japan, which made it a very sought-after collector's item on eBay. These projects were released independently by N'dambi, but still managed to garner considerable critical acclaim. In late 2006 N'dambi was signed to the re-activated Stax Records along with Angie Stone, Lalah Hathaway, Soulive and Leon Ware. Her latest album Pink Elephant was released on October 6, 2009 (Album release party was at The Shrine).

On Pink Elephant, N’dambi ingeniously distills soul-deep inspiration into a sensual style of elegance and power, making her a fundamental new addition to the Stax legacy.
